World Mental Health Day
|
|
World Mental Health Day is held on the 10th October
each year. Each year we hold an event, often in partnership with other
voluntary sector organisations.
In 2011 we are planning another well-being day, which will be held on Monday 10th October. In 2010, we held a FUN day to celebrate World Mental Health Day, "World Mental Fun Day". During the day, we had good food, relaxation, massage and karaoke. It did exactly what it said on the tin! Hopefully, we also raised awareness of our presence in Sutton and awareness of mental health issues. In 2009, we also had an open day at the drop in, "Open Door - Pathway to Wellbeing". We had a large art exhibition, during which we sold a lot of our pictures (pictures by people who use our services), relaxation and massage for well-being. The "relaxation room" was a great hit and is likely to be set up for all future open days. In 2008, we held an exhibition at the Europa Gallery in Sutton Library, from Tuesday 7th to Sunday 12th October, 2008. We also featured pictures, information and stories from our local Traveller communities. Paul Burstow MP visited us, and staff, volunteers and people who use our services were there on Friday 10th October 2008. We were pleased to be able to talk to people, pass on information about various aspects of mental health and offer free shoulder massages. In 2007, we held an information and art exhibition in a shop in Times Square shopping centre, and we took part in an exhibition in the Europa Gallery in Sutton Library. We were visited by Paul Burstow, MP for Sutton and Cheam, and Dr. Brendan Hudson, Deputy Mayor of Sutton. A selection of photos - see our Facebook page for more pictures
